BIOGRAPHY
Matt is originally from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and then attended Georgetown University Law Center for his J.D. Following law school, Matt judicially clerked with Kaye Hearn, former Chief Judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals, and current Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court. After his clerkship, Matt moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he has practiced law and resided since, working first for King & Spalding, then Bendin Sumrall & Ladner for over ten years before joining Gower Wooten & Darneille in 2021.
Matt’s practice and experience has always focused on litigation, across a range of areas including insurance defense, commercial litigation, construction litigation, trucking and accident cases, premises and general liability, medical malpractice, stormwater runoff, employment and contractual disputes, etc. Matt’s current practice currently focusses on accident cases (from minor to catastrophic/fatal) for several major insurance carriers, along with a range of construction, premises liability, commercial and similar insurance/defense matters.
